Some kind of mining bee? - Andrena dunningi

Some kind of mining bee? - Andrena dunningi
Credit River, Scott County, Minnesota, USA
May 6, 2018
Size: 17 mm
I found this bee nearby a garden of mine in which it appears that a large number of bees have dug a couple dozen or so small holes, each about 7 mm wide. I have a feeling that this bee is some kind of mining bee, but have no idea which specie. What I really want to know is whether these bees are harmless. I do a lot of gardening and am allergic to bees, so I don't really want to be stung.

Andrena, I think.
Andrena carlini? Small, harmless bees - they may not even be able to be stung. They nest in the ground, if you can avoid disturbing the nest site the flowers will appreciate it.

Thanks, Terry It does look
