Brown moth with monkey face - Nycteola metaspilella

Brown moth with monkey face - Nycteola metaspilella
Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama, USA
May 7, 2018
This was a brown moth that appeared to have a monkey's face on his thorax. There were four vague tan spots just below his basal line. The two on each forewing were diagonally aligned. The AM line was doubled and it was both jagged and wavy. There were two small black spots where each line met the inner margin. The PM line was also jagged. They both met at the inner margin in a concave fashion. The subterminal line was vague, jagged, and had small dark dots along its path. His terminal line was a fine row of dark brown triangles. He had long tan fringe.
