little hopper - Cuerna striata

little hopper - Cuerna striata
Pagosa Springs, CO, Archuleta County, Colorado, USA
October 9, 2007
Size: ~5 mm
There were quite a few of these sunning themselves on the house. They looked black until I saw them enlarged. They definitely hopped, so maybe they're leaf hoppers? Cicadellidae? Or spittlebug? 'm not positive the two shots are the same individual.

Moved
Moved from Cuerna.

Check out Cuerna
in the guide here. Dr Hamilton might be able to tell you which species, but it's a tough group.

Cuerna
There are lots of species in CO.

Thank you
Yes, I think you're right. It looks very much like C. striata, which seems to be common, and Colorado is in the range. I'll wait for Dr. Hamilton, though, since there seems to be a lot of similar species.
