Osmia cornifrons female - Osmia cornifrons - Female
Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, USA
May 5, 2018
Size: ~12 mm
I caught this feisty bee looking for a place to nest in/around our front porch (not ideal, considering the number of bird feeders there!), then put her in the fridge for a little while before taking some images and letting her go in the back yard (where there were no bird feeders in the immediate vicinity). Notes:
  • Length: ~12 mm (I have a photo with a ruler, if it's needed for confirmation)
  • Cavity-nester, she was definitely looking for a place in our porch (she seemed interested in some of the larger bamboo poles used for tying up plants)
  • Collected around 7:00 pm
  • Apologies for the multitude of photos—I'm using a new extension tube (in lieu of a macro lens) and have been having a little difficulty getting the depth of field consistent. But I have more photos, if needed, with specific features in focus...
  • Photographed on white printer paper
Thanks!

Thank you!
I didn't even realize they had made it to Oregon.
