Winter 2017-2018 Collected culms of Virginia wild rye, Elymus virginicus, inhabited by overwintering Thrypticus larvae

and gave some to researcher Fleur Lebhart, who is studying dolichopodid eye development at NYU

Two larvae (one shown here as a pupa and adult) had fallen out of their culm pieces and were kept in a vial; they were removed from fridge in late February and given fly food
