Guess which beetle family - Nycteus testaceus

Guess which beetle family - Nycteus testaceus
Amherst, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
October 13, 2007
Size: about 4.5 mm
Found seven or eight of these larvae on the underside of a rather ripe gilled mushroom on a cool day in a wet area. They have a "sticky foot" on their posterior that they use a lot. I placed them on a piece of the mushroom on a damp paper towel atop of 8-10mm of soil for them to pupate in.

You'll see a springtail or two in these images of various individuals in the group.

i refer to the adult but prefer to comment here:
a good one -- new to the guide, too; fits snugly the type specimen in the MCZ db; thanks, Jim! your contribs are direly missed!!!
