Moved from Dicyrtoma fusca.

Ptenothrix cf. flavescens
Dear Jim, your new postings were even more puzzling... ;-)
It turned out that it are 3 species:
those with pale (whitish) 4th antennal segment = Ptenothrix
those with dark 4th antennal segment = Dicyrtoma

These yellowish specimens match best with Ptenothrix flavescens. It is not yet reported from the USA. Therefore I used the 'cf.' (confer).

I saved these specimens in ethyl alcohol.
Should I send them off for examination?

Yes, that's a good idea
You can send the specimens to Dr Snider.

Would that be this Dr. Snider?

btw, I never heard back from Ken Christiansen after I sent him the D. ornat*a specimens.

Yes
that's Dr Snider.
I'll check with Dr Christiansen what happened with the specimens.

Dicyrtoma fusca
A puzzling picture. Everything fits Dicyrtoma fusca (such as head more pale then body and whitish feet and antennal apices), except the colour.
It should be more reddish...

I'll be posting some momentarily
that are more reddish: click here and here.
