Looks like the Seven-spotted
Looks like the Seven-spotted Lady Beetle, Coccinella septempunctata although I have no idea whether they occur in California, so could be something else.

 
unfortunately
the seven-spotted lady beetle is one of the most common lady beetles in California, after Harmonia axyridis (also not native).
