not H. parenthesis
from Gordon's ref. (1), H. parenthesis never has the black marking connecting at the suture in an apical spot. Rather, he states two species, H. apicalis Casey and H. expurgata Casey do have this characteristic, and are otherwise unseparable without male genitalia. Distribution for both is Canadian Rockies south to northern AZ, and west to the Pacific coast. Given that, I'd suggest we create a combined taxon page, as was previously done here.

But at least it's another new species for BugGuide :)

thanks Tim
for the correction and information. I was going to ask you about Tom's California photo, but I see you already commented on it.

you're welcome,
and in the excitement of providing the info on the new species, I neglected to just stop and say how wonderfully beautiful the colors and markings on this ladybug are! Thanks for posting it.

you're welcome!
It's always fun to find lady beetles that are not the usual non-native ones.
