Too bad--I collected it on a wet day, so I hoped for the best. It was the only one I found like it. I suppose there is no hope that the moth inside could be ok?

 
No hope
But I suspect more mines will be appearing soon.

 
I checked for them last night
I checked for them last night, and found one additional mine that appears to be Phyllonorycter. It is small, and I cannot tell if it is aborted or active.

 
Since they pupate within the mine,
it's probably best to wait until the mines are further along (have formed distinct tents) before collecting.
