Numbers

8 spp. in our area, 2 of which are in subgenus Phaiosterna and 6 of which are in subgenus Paralimna(1)

Identification

Paralimna (Paralimna) are dull colored with round eyes and wide genae. Paralimna (Phaiosterna) are dark brown, frequently shiny, with elongate eyes and narrow genae.(1)(2)

Found throughout the United States; aren't found in Canada(1)
