A. austerella versus oreasella
The moths in all of the photos on this page are A. oreasella. this was identified previously as A. austerella as the result of a minor mixup. True A. austerella is pretty dissimilar from A. oreasella in appearance; A. austerella is illustrated in Busck's 1907 paper, but not too many people have ready access to it. An image of A. austerella, along with A. oreasella, can be seen here. The citation for Busck's paper also is given there.

why not A. oreasella?
I looked at photos of Argyresthia oreasella (Cherry Shoot Borer) here: [1, 2, 3] and photos of A. austerella here: [1, 2] but didn't notice any obvious differences.

Do you know what distinguishes these two species?

Argyresthia?
