During two successive summers (1903-1904) Mr. Carl Schaeffer of the Brooklyn Museum has collected insects for the Museum in the vicinity of Brownsville, Texas. The Hemiptera were placed in my hands to report upon and this paper is a result of my study of the Heteroptera. The Homoptera are represented by eleven species which will be reported upon later. Of the Heteroptera there are in the collection 588 specimens, representing 129, species of which 26 are known Mexican or Central American forms which are here reported for the first time as occurring within the geographical boundary of the United States, and six are new. Several others are undoubtedly new but I have thought best to delay their description until more material is at hand.
