eastern tent caterpillars - Malacosoma americana
Flat Rock, Plainfield, Windham County, Connecticut, USA

An all too common sight with all the gypsy moth devastation of the past several years. In my observation if the nest is within reach then it is not food but a predator. We aren't proactive with the threat as we once were decades ago, when you wouldn't find roads and parks lined with nests. The state puts a dozen or so paper traps in the area and that's all!
