I have 3 from the same region (1:Elytra all brown with dark edges. 2:Elytra all black. 3:Elytra brown center with large dark edges and central edges).

- Pronotal disk is rounded, not flattened. Ring flash makes it look depressed.
- Eyes entire.
- Tibial spurs subterminal a little, but not enough to warrant that designation in Arnett couplet 8 (1) (see Stenocorus).

- No pronotal tubercles like Piodes.
- Antenna not as stout & short as Piodes.

- Procoxa: Open behind, not meeting with procoxal process which narrows to nothing.
- Procoxa: The external shape of the opening is angular pointing to the side.
