Moth ID
Male Carmenta Ithacae.
Can you tell me about the habitat you found this moth sitting?

Thanks for the ID
Yes, it was in the mixed weeds and grasses alongside a farm road that goes to a pond some 100 yards from where the moth was sitting. There is a small stream nearby, overflow from the pond. The vegetation includes blackberries, poison ivy, and grasses.
Thanks for the identification!
I really appreciate it.

Comment
These moths have been reared from sneezeweed and other stream-side herbs. They are not common in museum collections as they are small and easily overlooked.

It’s a beautiful clearwing
It’s a beautiful clearwing moth. The one I know best is the Snowberry.
If I had a net I would try to capture one of these Carmenta ithacae moths for a permanent collection.
