Congratulations!
This appears to be the first North American record of the European species Crossocerus binotatus. The identification was made by my German colleague Hans-Joachim Jacobs, an expert on European crabronid wasps. Without a specimen the identification is somewhat tentative because the European C. dimidiatus is very similar. However, your excellent images show enough detail to be reasonably certain. Great find! Please post more images if you find the species again.

Crossocerus binotatus
I have more images at higher resolution of the same specimen. Is there a way to send you those?

Crossocerus
I believe this is C. maculipennis but I want to compare with specimens from the collection. Usually the yellow markings are much more restricted. The fly is a snipe fly (Rhagio sp.). Great pictures and a first for Bugguide!
