Unknown Dytiscus - Dytiscus dauricus - Male
Sunrise Valley, Victoria County, Nova Scotia, Canada
June 16, 2017
Size: 35 mm
This Dytiscus was caught at lights (part of a moth project). To me, it keys out to D. circumcinctus Ahrens, but that species is not known from around here (not too far away though). I'm basing this mostly on the yellow adjacent to the eye. The abdominal sternites I think are closer to D. dauricus Gebler.

Date corrected.

ID
This is most likely D. dauricus assuming body size is right. The eyes are only incompletely rimmed with yellow and the coloration of the abdominal sterna has too extensive dark markings for D. circumcinctus. The only other similar species is D. alaskanus, which is smaller in size and differs in characters of the aedeagus (dissection required).

Date is wrong
The date is "December 31, 1969" which is what the system puts in if it is confused by what you typed.

Dytiscus
Definitely Dytiscus, some part looks like D. circumcinctus, others D. dauricus. I don't think it is D. marinalis
