This tiny stink bug landed on me, and I was able to photograph it in my hand before it flew off.

Aradidae.
Just had to say thank you for a shot of this insect that actually shows the bug! Usually folks photograph them "in situ" on bark where you, well, CAN'T see them:-)

I know what you mean
I wanted to get a good shot of a biting midge, and it took about 30 seconds of it biting before I got that shot. But they don't leave any scars:-)

Correct ID
This is not actually a stink bug, but rather it is in the family Aradidae, which are commonly called flat bugs or bark bugs. They are often found under loose bark of dead or dying trees. They have extremely long stylets in their mouthparts that kind of coil up inside the head. They can then extrude them out a long ways where they usually feed on fungi, etc. up under the bark.
