Arizona Moth - Caloptilia

Arizona Moth - Caloptilia
Miller Canyon, Huachucha Mountains, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
May 27, 2018
Cannot choose between the most likely imaged species I know of - Caloptilia rhoifoliella Hodges 0630, or Caloptilia ovatiella Hodges 0619. Using BOLD, MPG, BG sighting locations, ovaltiella is found only in Southern California, while rhoifoliella is an eastern species not extending past east Texas. There is no apparent similar sp. noted in the west Texas to California gap. This moth was found at night on a sheet with a UV black light.
