Bee Fly - Epacmus - female

Bee Fly - Epacmus - Female
Sycamore Canyon - Coronado National Forest, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
October 19, 2007

Moved
Moved from Aphoebantus.

ID
This is one that would be placed in Epacmus, but I don't think Epacmus is a valid genus. I place all Epacmus in Aphoebantus.

where is this synonymy?
I can't find it. Evenhuis, Yeates, and Trautwein have all published papers recently using Epacmus

Moved
Moved from Bee Flies.

Aphoebantus, based on
wing venation, incl. 2 posterior cells, spur extending backwards from the end of the crossvein-like basal section of the anterior branch of the 3rd vein; subglobular head, sparse vestiture; scutellum is bilobed in some Aphoebantus spp. (shared with some other bombyliids, but they're different in other respects). This one looks like a female with the eyes this much separated. Quite sure of the genus.

Thanks Harmut.
