Misumena vatia? - Misumena vatia

From photos on Bugguide it seems like this is Misumena vatia. My friends have other photos of similar spiders in our area, but the other spiders have darker colouring on the backs and no colouring on the head. I'm wondering whether this is just normal variation within the species, or does it indicate age or sex or ....?
