very cool - seed bug?
I think it's a Lygaeid, but I can't find a match. Great pictures, and this bug has a lot of distinctive features: banded joints on the antennae and legs, pale spots medial to the eyes, white line bisecting the pronotum and scutellum, red ocelli and that red "collar". Best guess: new addition of N*eacoryphus for the guide?

Thanks Joot!
I looked for quite some time, but couldn't find a matching image for this bug. It was interesting getting these shots because the wind was blowing, so I had to hold the plant with one hand and the camera with the other. I got a couple of lucky shots I guess.

Finally....
Finally ID'd this as a species of Ochrimnus using Slater & Baranowski's "How to Know the True Bugs."

Wow!
This bug now has its own page! Thanks Eric. I haven't seen another bug like this (except for the orange one in my other pic :)) since these images were taken.
