Please don't create new pages and delete old ones
Everything on BugGuide.net is editable. We could simply have moved the species page to the new genus rather than creating a new page and deleting the old one. Now anyone who had a link to the old Kuschelina jacobiana page on BugGuide or anywhere on the web will get sent to a blank page instead of winding up on this page. All the links are broken. If you plan to make a taxonomy change and think that it requires you to delete something - stop. Post the change that you want to make to the Forums and someone will tell you how to make the change without deleting anything and without breaking any links - or better, they may just make the change for you. We will see if John VanDyk can create a redirect for the old page to this new page to save the old links, but all those redirects slow down access to BugGuide. It is much better not to delete in the first place. Thanks. - and thanks for all this great work you are doing on the leaf beetles.

If I am not simply confused
the advantage that I see in the creation of the new page is that the contributor gets notified of the change. Otherwise, the contributor will not know the name has changed. It would be nice for the contributor to get the news when the species page is moved to a new genus.

Yes, it would be good to notify people
and BugGuide 2.0 may do that. People who change taxonomy can always post that change to the forums so that contributors know of the change. But we definitely don't want to delete pages and break all the links to that page. If we have to choose between notifying people and breaking all the links to a page, we say don't break the links. Do not delete pages.
