looks like Coniatus splendidulus
is the color off?

 
Frass?
Since I already posted a much better example of this splendid weevil from the Mohave area, would you frass this one? I don't how to delete an entire posting. Many thanks.

 
Color
It was in a pitfall trap, with 50% ethyl alcohol & 50% RV antifreeze, so the color may have deteriorated. Good call, because I did get others in the shrubbery (Tamarask?), and didn't think they were the same species. Thanks!
