Size: ca 5 mm
Beat from isolated flowering acacia tree in creosote bush habitat. This site is quite far from the AZ border - maybe a first for CA on BG?

Both D Swanson and P Masonick were kind enough to look at these images and get back to me offline. They agree on this genus - it might be L. uhleri per P Masonick.

Certainly seems to match others in the Guide, but...
...I don't know if Lophoscutus and Macrocephalus are the only possibilities. According to the Info Page, there are 20 genera in Macrocephalini.
