red-headed ground beetle - Amphasia interstitialis

red-headed ground beetle - Amphasia interstitialis
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
October 25, 2007

Amphasia interstitialis
Reddish forebody is like that of similar harpaline Trichotichnus dichrous. The two can be easily distinguished by elytra punctate & pubescent in A. interstitialis vs smooth & non-pubsecent in T. dichrous. So far no editor has acted on a request (Oct 15, 2007) to create web page in Guide for Trichotichnus dichrous.
