Species Pelegrina balia

This masterpiece should be considered as required reading material for anyone attempting to identify spiders in the genus Pelegrina. As well, any beginners who skip the first 30 pages and head straight to the keys may be doing themselves a disservice; the "Materials and Methods" section alone provided the groundwork for my techniques (and my equipment purchases) for working with spider material under the microscope. It should also be considered as required study material for anyone attempting to write a genus revision. Beautiful stuff in here.

The abstract is rather large, so... 45 species are described/revised; 18 of them for the first time. 38 in Pelegrina; one in Nagaina; six in Metaphidippus. Two new genera are described. Genus Pelegrina is resurrected. The subfamily Dendryphantinae is described in detail, and a proposed phylogenetic reconstruction of its species groups is presented. Detailed drawings. Maps. Fifty-nine photographs of living specimens.

This transfers all North America Thiodina into the genus Colonus. Wayne Maddison let me know that two papers are coming out which will properly show the relationships and subfamilies of Salticidae, so unless someone doesn't see this and tries to change Thiodina to Colonus in BugGuide, I've decided to wait until those papers are published in order to rearrange the way Salticidae is currently set up here.
