Bastard Toadflax leaf mine, under side of leaf

Bastard Toadflax leaf mine, under side of leaf
Coldwater Creek Road, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
June 16, 2018
June 10, 2018: collected several of these leaf mines on Bastard Toadflax, Comandra umbellata
This mine was lacking the woven covering at the beginning of the mine so frass was pushed out rather than confined.
Mine with woven cover:

Hmm...
Were there any tied, rolled, or folded leaves nearby? I'm thinking this might be some kind of lep that is only initially a leafminer.

Tied I believe.
I’ve had 2 common (to my disappointment) tortricids emerge from pupae in tied leaves, collected 1 green larva in tied leaves (nothing yet) and found these dead larva

in the apical tip of leaves (which is what started all this looking close).
Finding the leaf mines was inadvertent when looking for larvae and pupae.

Aha...
What are the tortricids you've reared?
I wonder if Terry would be able to get the dead larva to genus...

I'd not previously looked close
at Comandra.
Archips argyrospila and Choristoneura rosaceana
I did save the 2 dark purple larvae (didn't collect the 3rd) and will ask.
