Found on on madrone (Arbutus menziesii) with blotchy leaf mines

Resembles Cameraria quercivorell photo on MPG from Scott Justis, but range seems off.
Moved from Butterflies and Moths.

Host
There were oaks but the two of these moths I saw were both on a madrone which had lots of leaf mines. I’m thinking, guilt by association, that this is a madrone feeder.

Not Sure
Your reasoning seems sound but I think in this case it is an oak feeder that happened to end up near madrone. Marmara arbutiella might be the culprit for the madrone mines. There are several oak feeders similar to this in CA.
