Cedar beetle? - Sandalus Cedar beetle?

sighting date missing

Moved
Moved from Beetles.

Sandalus petrophya
.

I really doubt your ID;
This looks a lot more like Cedar beetle (S. niger). Also, my state(MO) seems out of the range of S. petrophya.

Do you have the specimen?
.

Yes, it's in my insect collection.
Why?

There is a new key to eastern species
Schnepp KE, Powell GS. 2018. A new species of Sandalus Knoch (Coleoptera: Rhipiceridae), with an updated key to the species of the eastern USA. The Coleopterists bulletin 72(2): 241-245.

Do you have access to interlibrary loan?
