Broad-striped Forceptail? - Aphylla

Broad-striped Forceptail? - Aphylla
Rockport, Aransas County, Texas, USA
June 20, 2018
Size: about 2" long
My "guess" is Broad-striped Forceptail

Moved to Aphylla for expert attention.
Moved from Clubtails.

Moved
Moved from Dragonflies.

Narrow-striped Forceptail??
You're way outside of my comfort zone, Bruce, but all that brown in the abdomen makes me think of Aphylla protracta. Can't claim any expertise however.

Narrow-striped Forceptail
Hi Ken,

I am a newbie to dragonflies and insects. Narrow-striped was my "guess". Looking at the pictures and reading the text in "Dragonflies and Damselflies of the West" I think I agree with you. The thoracic stripe pattern in my pic looks much more like the thoracic stripe pattern on male Narrow-striped Forceptail on page 246.

Thanks for the correction.
