Utah Black and White Alpine Jumping Spider - Dendryphantes nigromaculatus - male

Utah Black and White Alpine Jumping Spider - Dendryphantes nigromaculatus - Male
Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
June 23, 2018
Found about a third of the way up the Desolation Lake trail in the Wasatch Mountains outside of Salt Lake City. We were at a spot next to a small stream, where many butterflies and other insects were coming to drink. It was a very green, forested area, and the spider was found on one of the low flowering plants. My first impression was that it was a Phidippus species, but as soon as I got a good look at it, I couldn't even recognize the genus it belonged to! ID provided by Wayne Maddison.
