Polistes cf. bellicosus, male (TX)
P. exclamans can be excluded based on the uniformly coloured antenna. P. dorsalis never has yellow spots on tergum 2. My best guess is P. bellicosus (note reddish male antenna). The yellow spots on tergum 2 are somewhat unsual for this species. P. apachus is similar but has even more yellow, especially on the pronotum.
