possible ID
Species Boloria selene - Silver-bordered Fritillary - Hodges#4464 ?

Purplish Fritillary
I think it looks more like Purplish, Boloria chariclea, with the dark bases to the wings. It's always very helpful to have a shot of the underside of a small fritillary, if possible.

thanks!
Unfortunately, the butterfly did not stop flying except for some brief moments lying flat on the path, so, I could not get a shot of the underwings.
