Black-and-Yellow Mud Dauber and ? - Sceliphron caementarium

Black-and-Yellow Mud Dauber and ? - Sceliphron caementarium
Fair Oaks, Sacramento County, California, USA
June 27, 2018
Size: 3/4 and 1 inch + or-
While visiting Sailor Bar on the American River Parkway with my newly repaired 80-400mm lens I checked out the area where I had observed and photographed the Black-and-Yellow Mud Daubers. I was surprised to see a smaller version of the Black-and-Yellow Mud Dauber but the abdomen tip was not quite as black as its larger cousin baring less yellow on the inner tip.

Black-and Yellow Mud Dauber
I am aware that the larger wasp is a Black-and-Yellow Mud Dauber but what about the smaller wasp next to it. Is that also a Black-and-Yellow Mud Dauber? I know they look alike but, to me, they can't possibly be the same species, can they?
