conopid - Physoconops bulbirostris - Female
Saint Francis Sunken Lands , Craighead County, Arkansas, USA
June 24, 2018

Moved
Moved from Conopinae.

Entirely black frons; whitish face & facial grooves; cheeks dark in posterior portion; pleural pollinose marking only extending on lower half of pleura; long 3rd antennal segment; placement of cross-vein r-m together with sharply delineated edges & pattern of wing infuscation...and very large theca: all point to a female of Physoconops bulbirostris.

Good to have another post of this species...our western-most yet, and the first from Arkansas :-)
