Tetrigidae, not Acrididae
Nice pair of shots. This and the other one you just posted are Pygmy Grasshoppers, Tetrigidae, not Acrididae. Note the pronotum that extends far back over the abdomen--characteristic of that family.

This group is very difficult to key, even to genus. I've done some on Eastern species, but don't have a clue on the Wild West.

Awesome! Thanks Patrick. I knew I had seen these little guys before and overlooked them. Figured they were nymphs until I say them posted here. I just couldn't find them on bugguide. Maybe Dave Ferguson knows these guys since he is from the SW.
