Anania leuschneri

Anania leuschneri
Plainsboro Preserve, Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA
July 1, 2018
I originally thought that this Pyralid was Ecpyrrhorrhoe puralis, but Paul Dennehy identified it as Anania leuschneri on iNaturalist. First BugGuide NJ data point.

This moth was found on a night when we put a sheet with CFL lights out on the deck at Plainsboro Preserve. The moth landed on the building near the sheet.

Plainsboro Preserve is one of the sanctuaries of the New Jersey Audubon Society. Surrounding habitats include farmland, marsh, and forest, with a large lake as well.
