Is this possibly a Hermit Sphinx? Lintneria eremitus? - Lintneria eremitus
Florence, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
July 1, 2018
Size: About 3 inch wingspan
Large, beautiful, chunky moth, brownish/grayish subtle pattern on main wings, underwings have a striking, striped effect as does the body -- the body looks like a Laurel Sphinx but the wings' aren't right. Hermit Sphinx? It was feeding on milkweed, and the photo is "in flight." Thank you so much for your help!
