Heterocampa secessionis - Aon noctuiformis - male

Heterocampa secessionis - Aon noctuiformis - Male
29.797499, -100.998049, Val Verde County, Texas, USA
May 27, 2017
I pulled this from my archives. I never posted it anywhere, as it was not similar to any images of Texas species on the MPG list and I figured it would be identified as Heterocampa sp. But I recently realized that H. secessionis is found in Texas (still not on the MPG TX list) and that night there was a "typical" specimen of secessionis present at my lights. The brown in the ST area, and the black band across the ruff on the thorax makes me believe that secessionis is a possibility.

Erebidae: Aon noctuiformis
Moved from ID Request.

Rooky
That was a rooky mistake. Sorry. I was hearing hooves and thinking zebras. The black band on the thorax was the clue--right?
Thanks...

The band of gold blotches
near the inner wing margin is a good clue. Also seen in this individual.
