Genus species
Why was this not closed at the genus species level instead of just the Lampyridae level?
This specimen has been identified as Pyractomena dispersa, by a specialist, as part of a project at the Utah Museum of Natural History.

I don't know enough about fireflies
to take this to species, and the only images of this species on Bugguide are from the East Coast...

Understood
Until recently, there was little known about fireflies in Utah. Everyone was assuming that they were not here this far West. Then records started to show up and a special study was started 2-3 years ago. This bug is now in Utah.
