Thread-waisted wasp - Prionyx - female

Thread-waisted wasp - Prionyx - Female
Ramsey Canyon, E side of Huachuca Mts., S of Sierra Vista, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
July 4, 2018
On Arizona Milkweed. Butterfly garden, clearing in Madrean Woodland. Not interacting with the lycid beetles; just happened to land there. Somewhat larger than (other?) Prionyx on same plant. Those had dark maculation on dorsum of abdomen. Unlike those smaller Prionyx, which are generally present, but in small numbers, this larger, brighter red, and unmaculated individual was seen only once in several hours of searching at four sites.

Moved
Moved from Prionychini. It is not fervens which has dark brown wings and no patch of silvery hairs above the hind coxa. It is either parkeri or canadensis.

I note that Prionyx
fervens has been recorded nearby.
