Dasymutilla occidentalis? He was buzzing around my backyard, paying close attention to the area around a boxwood. I caught it and photographed it and, with a bit of apprehension, released it. It went right back to the same area. I saw a female two days ago -- I've never had them on my property before. Even though I find them fascinating, I'd rather they be fascinating somewhere else!
