Help!

I am at the beach for a week. Both the mattress and box spring are new and in zippered encasements. I am petrified of all bugs but especially bed bugs. This morning as I was doing an inspection of the seams of the encasement I saw a tiny black thing I though was lint. I went to grab it and it moved. I tried to get it but I squished it, and it left a faint blank mark. I saw no legs or anything, that’s how small it was. Any ideas?

Our experts are good, but...

If you see another, please try to get a photo and post it to ID Request. Even a small/blurry shot will be more helpful than a vague description.

Thanks--and welcome to BugGuide!

Thank you. I did put that in there. I tried to capture it but it was so small it just got smashed. It literally looked like a tiny long black piece of lint. I could see no legs. Wings, anything. That’s how small it was. I thought it was s tiny piece of lint.
