macromoth - Protapamea danieli

macromoth - Protapamea danieli
Mars Hill, Madison County, North Carolina, USA

Size: TL = 13 mm
This is a distinctively marked moth, but two moth experts with expertise in SE moths can't readily place it. I was thinking that perhaps it is an aberrant form of a Phosphila, but that is a long shot.

Based on genitalia dissection
Based on genitalia dissection, this specimen has been identified as Protapamea louisae rather than P. danieli. It is a rare cane specialist and was collected near an extensive growth of giant cane (Arundinaria gigantea).
