Yes. Thinking Parasyrphus too. Possibly Parasyrphus genualis .... female.
Hind leg dark apart from slightly paler knees. Golf club markings. Rolled sides to the abdomen. Yellow face with central dark stripe.

Hmm, I am not seeing the facial stripe here? Was thinking Parasyrphus nigritarsis, perhaps, I also don't see the dark markings on the sternites found in genualis whereas sternites are yellow in nigritarsus.

Good points. I agree.

Shall we move to nigritarsis
Shall we move to nigritarsis then, or just leave it in Parasyrphus?

It looks like a female and nigritarsis females have the hind femora entirely yellow. I will spend more time on this but it is safe in Parasyrphus. On a zoomed image, 400%, I think I can see a facial stripe. The hind femur is totally black whereas genualis is usually paler toward base. I am now thinking it may be relictus which can have triangular or central linear markings on the sternites, like the latter in this one. (Just visible in zoomed image). This is great. Two minds are better than one.
Safe in Parasyrphus.

Syrphid Fly
This might be something in tribe Syrphini. This shot is dark, but I think that this is a female.

Thank you, Bob Biagi.
Your help with this i.d. is appreciated.
