Tiny Russet Dragonfly on Seedheads of Shepherd's Purse - Perithemis tenera - Male

Size: 1/2-3/4"
There is an odd deep, concave crease in the head. In the other photo, the pit seems to be in the back of the head--here it looks as if it is the eye. I am not sure what I am looking at. This is one beautiful dragonfly! I would appreciate it so much if you can identify him/her for me!

Thank you for the ID! I can see by studying others' pictures that the "pit" I was looking at was actually just the depression between eyes--as seen from the rear. I am learning!
