Tenebrionid or Carabid Cyclotrachelus - Amara obesa

Tenebrionid or Carabid Cyclotrachelus - Amara obesa
Picture Rock Trail Head , Boulder County, Colorado, USA
November 14, 2013
Size: ~12 mm
Seen at Picture Rock Trailhead, Heil Ranch Open Space,.Lyons, CO.~5600' elevation. On sandstone short cliff. I thought it was a tenebrionid, but it looks a lot like the carabid Cyclotrachelus. I can't count tarsi. Any help much appreciated.

Moved tentatively
oblique angles in carabids are particularly frustrating...
Cyclotrachelus look quite different -- pleanty of pics in the guide

Moved from Ground Beetles.

Amara obesa
Thanks for this ID. Black beetles are so difficult for me. Amara obesa certainly resembles this beetle, including the small head and the size of about 12 mm. Also, BG says this is an autumn breeder and we saw this beetle out in mid-November (of a milder year). Your help is much appreciated.
