Ancistrocerus antilope? - Ancistrocerus capra

Ancistrocerus antilope? - Ancistrocerus capra
Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
July 9, 2018
Large potter wasp observed removing excess sawdust from a nest site in my bee hotel. It would grasp a pile of debris in its mandibles, fly off maybe five feet away and drop it, then immediately return and repeat. A few potter wasps have taken up residence (though no bees yet) and it's very exciting. This one didn't mind me sitting and watching it. I will try to take different angles if I catch it again.
